Final thoughts

Home sweet home!

After spending 2 weeks on the road, we are finally back home!

To wrap things up on this blog, I need to say thank you to everyone who made this trip possible! I have to say, this was the BEST trip I have ever taken! With so many amazing activities from just feeding birds, to an epic skydive, this sure was the best trip ever!

So all in all, there is plenty of positive things to say about this trip. I really enjoyed doing this blog as I went along, and I would like to thank those who followed us on our travels! Doing this blog will help me remember this trip forever!

We are also thinking of maybe doing another road trip in the future, but next time will probably be up to the far north (when we have enough money coz this trip costed us a lot). But if we do go ahead with that one, I will blog that one as well!

To conclude this blog, here are some photos that you may have missed! Once again, thank you to all who followed us on this trip, and to those who made it possible!

Sylas out!

Deleted photo I didn't like, but you guys can have a look now

I had my own room at the hotel in Christchurch!

Last day

Back in Kaikoura for the rest of our trip!

Yup, today was the last full day we had on this trip. Although it may be over, I am still very happy I was able to do this road trip! From feeding seagulls, to jumping out of a plane at 15,000 feet, I got to do SO MANY amazing things!

Anyway, we decided to head back to Kaikoura to top off our incredible adventure! Today wasn't very exciting though. We just chilled out, and went out to feed the seagulls!

Another visit to the seagulls

We went out to have butter chicken for dinner, which would be our last dinner for this trip! After that, we fed some naan bread to the seagulls! Because the bread was so tough, they were having a long battle over it!

When I get home, I will write an entry on my final thoughts, to stay tuned for that one!

Once again, thank you for following me on my travels, and I will be back tomorrow with another blog post!

Falling from the sky!

Best... Adventure... EVER!!!

I was very nervous (and excited) for today! Today was the day of our last planned activity for the trip, and that was to go for the indescribably epic activity known as skydiving! Even more exciting, we thought it would be just me and Delilah doing it, but my younger sister, Lorelei, was able to do it as well! I watched from the ground as she came down!

And then before long, they were waiting to take me and Delilah up there for OUR skydives! However, the clouds were not being too kind and were taking a long time to make a gap for us to jump through!

We are ready!

After a good wait, the weather finally decided to be kind and make a gap in the sky for us! As a result, it was time to load me onto the plane!

Off to the plane!

No turning back now...

I must say though, my jumpmaster did a great job at calming my nerves down. He told me to just take some deep breaths, and just relax and enjoy the scenery, which really did help me calm down a bit.

After about 15 minutes in the plane, we had reached 15,000 feet. It was already quite cold in there, so when the door opened, the cold didn't hit me so hard.

As soon as my legs were out that door, the first thing I could feel was the air rushing past my legs. At that point I had realised that I was very high above the ground just seconds away from hurtling towards the earth

HERE WE GO!!!

WE'RE FLYING!!!

When we jumped out, I felt my stomach fall a bit. I thought it was just getting more intense and that my stomach dropping would keep going for the whole freefall, but the feeling was very brief and I didn't feel it that much! In fact, it was a rather pleasant feeling!

I had just over a full MINUTE of freefall, but it only felt like around 30 seconds! Before long, the parachute went off and we were slowing down very fast. Unfortunately, this was the most uncomfortable part of the skydive, and that was because the tension from the harness on my leg was making it feel like something was cutting into me, but at one point we put my legs a bit higher, making it more comfortable! It was just a smooth ride down to the ground, with some amazing views!

Before long, we had safely touched back down, in one peice!

Welcome back to Earth!

You should've heard me after I landed, sounding so excited and hyper like "OH YEAH!!!". I couldn't stop talking about this experience for the rest of the day!

When we got all my gear off, it was time to hit the road again, and we decided to spend the rest of our trip in Kaikoura, which is where we started, and is now also where it ends! But don't worry, there is still one last day. Because of this, there will be a new blog post after tomorrow!

In advance, I would like to thank everyone who followed my travels over the past couple of weeks! I hope you all enjoyed it too, and thank you again!

An amazing trip

 An amazing trip

By Delilah (Sylas' amazing sister)

Ok so in this entry I will be going over three
Of my favourite activities, so let’s get started

My very favourite activity so far has probably been indoor skydiving ever since I saw someone do it on youtube it has been one of the thing that I really wanted to do so to be able to do it was amazing😃

Next we have watching the little blue penguins come in from a hard day off fishing. It was just sooooo cute and not to mention how many there were
X photos of penguins x

And last we have the four wheel drive that was heaps of fun especially when we went through the river and water started leaking in through the sides of the buggy, at the end of the ride we were all covered head to toe in dust and dirt that was collected along the way. For example, when I washed my face there were brown marks on the face cloth

But out of all that fun I am most looking forward to skydiving tomorrow. I am a bit nervous but I think both Sylas and Dina can agree that I’ve been jumping off the walls with excitement🪂

This has been an amazing trip and I am super stoked that I got to be apart of the adventure there was a perfect mix of adrenaline and nature, A big thank you to everyone who was able to make this happen😊

Farewell Queenstown!

To the race track!

When we got up this morning, we had breakfast, packed all our stuff up and started our drive to Twizel! On our way, we decided to stop at the Highlands Motorsport park for some go karting! Not only did I get to do that, but I got to have a "supercar experience". Did I enjoy it? Well, just think about it! In a Ferrari, going over 200 km/h and accelerating real fast down a race track! What more could you want?

Ready to roll!

I must say, I REALLY enjoyed myself on that ride! And it wasn't even over yet! This place had 2-person go karts, so that is what we went to do next!

Time to drive!

The thing with these go-karts though, they went a bit slower than the normal ones, but I still had fun with it anyway!

Once we had done our go-karting and I had my supercar ride, it was time to check out the "Loo with a view", and they had THIS funny as toilet!

Hitting the road (again)

After we did all the stuff we wanted to do there, it was time to drive up to Twizel! But of course, we had to stop for ice cream on the way. But after we made that stop, we were officially on our way!

After about an hour or so of heading through the mountains, we finally arrive at our accommodation in Twizel, which happened to be on an airfield, and that is because tomorrow, we will be doing something there...

More space in our room!

What made things even better is that no one else was at the place we were staying, so we had the whole place to ourselves (this "hotel" was quite small anyway) It comes with a kitchen, and because no one else was here, we were the only ones who needed it! As a result, we were able to make our own food tonight for dinner!

Nice and big kitchen!

The place also had an aircraft hangar, and ordinarly guests aren't allowed in there, but the owner said we could because we were the only ones there!

An old military plane from China!

So that was pretty much our day today! However, now is not the time to stop!

Tomorrow, we have an adventure of a LIFETIME planned! Me and Delilah will both be skydiving tomorrow, which is why we are staying in a place next to an airfield! Yup, this is not a joke, we will be doing it!

I hope you are all excited, and I will be back tomorrow with another blog post, PLUS a special guest entry from Deiliah later tonight!

Queenstown last day

We don't need roads

Pretty amazing day today! We got to do what I have been wanting to do on this trip, which was to go 4x4 offroading!

Ready to go!

As we were headed away from the shed, we were slowly picking up speed heading down the gravel path, and before long we were headed up the mountain!

A nice view from the hill

I must say, it was a VERY crazy experience! We were going down a lot of steep slopes, as well as splashing through a series of puddles! At one point, the water made my face get so cold that I couldn't really feel it for some time, and it didn't really help that we were up high where it's colder.

At one point, we stopped for a quick break, which I was happy about because my arms were tired from holding on constantly.

Before I go any further, I would like to say a big "THANK YOU!" because we were given this tour for free!

Our tour lasted for around for an hour and a half. When we finished it, we headed back to the hotel, and I went out, yet again, to feed the seagulls and ducks! I also went to KFC for lunch!

After my outing to the birds, we just went back to the hotel to take some chill time and do some laundry because we were dirty from our off-roading trip.

After a long rest break, it was time to head out and get some dinner! We ended up going to Kingpin to play some arcade games, and then went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner.

And then after all that, it was time to head back to the hotel! All in all, it was a really good day today, but there is still some more to come!

Tomorrow, we will be go-karting! Because we were able to find a place with a 2-person kart!

I am looking forward to it!

Queenstown day 2

 A crazy day in Queenstown

Unfortunately, we were not able to do the canyon swing. However, we still had an AMAZING day!

As a backup, we decided to go to iFly for indoor skydiving, and later that afternoon, we would be going on a zipline! The best part was, we were able to do both of those, twice on each activity, for cheaper than the canyon swing COMBINED.

I remember going to the iFly in Toronto when I was younger, so I was SUPER pumped for it, so was Delilah!

All suited up and ready to go!

It was a while before our turn, but at least it wasn't terribly long.

We went into the other room for "pre-flight" briefing. When it was our group's turn to go in, I was up first!

I'm going in!

I BELIEVE I CAN FLYYY!!!!

All done my first go!

Now it's Delilah's turn!

When I was starting my second go, my shoe just came flying off. LOL

There goes my shoe

They had to shut off the fans in there so my shoe could come down, but once we got it back, and tightened it up very well, we were back in action!

High-fly time!

After an amazing indoor skydiving experience, we all decided to go off and do our own thing. I decided to go off on my own and feed the seagulls, and grab some lunch. I ended up having a plate of sushi, which I really enjoyed!

After that, it was almost time to head to ziplining! I was a little scared of it at first, but I liked it so much that we ended up doing it a SECOND time!

Weeeee!

After our zip-lining experience, we decided to go to Ferg's Burger for dinner, which is rumoured to have the world's best burgers! It was so popular, that on the busiest days you can expect to wait hours to get a burger from there. Lucky for us, because we went as the working week was starting back up, we only had to wait 20 minutes!

No joke on that "best burgers in the world" thing.

After we ate, we decided to share with the seagulls!

They went wild for chips!

After giving the seagulls our leftovers, me and Delilah went back to the hotel, gathered what was left of the bread, and went back to give them another visit!

After we got back to the hotel for real, Delilah was pooped from climbing up the hill. Mum said she was going to the cookie bar, and Delilah, despite being tired from the hill, actually still wanted to go. When they got back, she was exhausted to the point where her legs wouldn't work. But eventually, she got her strength back, and was able to hop into the shower!

Stay tuned for tomorrow people! We will be going on a 4x4 off roading tour on the hills in Queenstown! We will also have a "guest entry" from Delilah from what we did today!

I look forward to it!
